Public/Private Partnership for Equitable and Sustainable Socio-Economic Development in China
This section highlights a few of UN's projects underway which involve cooperation of the Chinese government and the private sector. Some of these projects include those which educate Chinese executives on clean production and the environmental responsibility of Chinese businesses. Another issue that has been of major concern in the business sector is the observance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Last November 2001, a coalition of 73 multinational companies operating in China has pledged cooperation with UNDP and the government to address the problem of counterfeiting.

There are also numerous projects that seek funding. In line with China's nation-wide efforts in environmental protection, some of these projects involve training in compliance and marketing approaches. There are projects that aim to help the poorer communities, mainly in West/Central China. Such projects aim to provide access to information and technology, computer literacy for women, or facilities for legal aid centers. To read more about projects that seek funding, click here.
